TALK Conference 2019 - Red Deer

Friday, June 21, 2019 - 9:00am to Saturday, June 22, 2019 - 4:00pm

Previously named the National Aboriginal Day Conference, this conference aims to spread awareness of the TRC Calls to Action and to educate Canadian Citizens on the culture and history of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Peoples.

The TALK Conference will immerse Red Deer and the communities of Central Alberta in a fun and educational experience aimed at professionals that work directly with Indigenous populations, as well as those local non-professionals of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous background.

Participants will acquire the knowledge to not only live a culturally rich life, but also to help those that want to find culture and to help build a healthy and safe place of belonging, and networks of like-minded individuals to help build community.

Enrolment for breakout sessions will be sent once presenters are finalized.

For information requests contact Ashley Patterson, Red Deer Native Friendship Society, 403-340-0020.

Rotary Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp

Sunday, August 11, 2019 - 9:00am to Saturday, August 17, 2019 - 6:00pm

RAYEC is a week-long camp that takes place every August for youth ages 13- 15 who are interested in learning about business and entrepreneurship. The main focus of this camp is to educate youth about marketing, advertising, preparing a cash-flow statement and writing a business plan. Campers set up their own businesses and use real money which they borrow from actual bankers. The last day is “Business Day” at the camp, where campers have the opportunity to open and operate their businesses. The youth also get to participate in many fun recreational activities throughout their week at camp.

RAYEC accepts 60 youth age 13-15 each year based on their applications. This camp is FREE to attend for the campers that are selected, thanks to the generous support of our partners and sponsors. There is also an opportunity for 10 previous campers to attend as Youth Leaders. For more information on becoming a camper or youth leader, please visit the Apply section.

For more information, and to apply, please visit the RAYEC website.
