Central Alberta First is proud to announce the launch of a BREWD—Business Retention, Expansion, and Workforce Development Survey. Central Alberta First, is a collaborative effort aimed at empowering local businesses and shaping the region's economic landscape. From January 23 to February 28, businesses across Central Alberta are encouraged to participate in a comprehensive online survey available at www.centralalbertafirst.ca.
This initiative represents a unique partnership among businesses, government entities, and service organizations dedicated to fostering a more competitive and supportive business environment in Central Alberta.
By uniting these sectors, the BREWD initiative seeks to address the challenges faced by local businesses and to develop strategies that promote growth and success for all.
"We believe that the insights and experiences of our local businesses are invaluable," said John Powell, Economic Development Officer for the Town of Innisfail. "The BREWD initiative is an opportunity for business owners to voice their needs and contribute directly to the creation of an action plan that will benefit the entire community."
Key Objectives of the BREWD Initiative:
- Assess Local Business Needs: Accurately evaluate the challenges and opportunities within the business community, including workforce development issues.
- Provide Immediate Support: Offer resources and information to address urgent business concerns identified through the survey.
- Facilitate Workforce Planning: Encourage strategic human resource planning to adapt to the region's evolving labor market.
- Enhance Collaboration: Strengthen cooperation among businesses, government agencies, and economic development organizations.
Participation in the survey is crucial for gathering the data needed to develop effective strategies. To ensure a robust response, over 60 community volunteers have been trained to reach out to more than 600 businesses throughout the region. "Active participation from our business community is essential," said Kelly Kierluk, General Manager, Community Futures Central Alberta. "The more input we receive, the better we can tailor our efforts to meet the specific needs of our local economy."
Next Steps in the BREWD Process:
- Business Engagement: All businesses will receive an invitation to participate in the confidential survey, which will be accessible online for a limited time.
- Immediate Follow-Up: The BREWD team will promptly address any urgent “red flag” issues raised, providing solutions and support where needed.
- Strategic Planning: Results from the survey will guide the formation of task forces and workforce teams dedicated to implementing the identified strategies.
